Which hotel for mid 20's female

Hi All

I am hoping you can help. Me and my friend will be in Bombay for 8-9 days in April and I simply cannot decide which hotel to stay in.

I previously stayed at The Taj in Colaba and absolutely loved it, however, this time round we are both keen on having good, quality nightlife around us(restaurants and bars).

I kind of narrowed it down to JW Marriot (as I hear it%26#39;s the most happening hotel in terms of people in their 20%26#39;s /30%26#39;s. And the bar/club are good. However, I have also heard that the rooms are not that great.

I then have looked at the Taj Lands End and am now again thinking of The Taj Mahal. However, I am just concerned that this is for the older business crowd and not much ';fun';

So should I stick to JW, try Lands Ends or..???Suggestions on which hotel for two females in their mid 20%26#39;s who basically want to party, eat and shop (in that order) but not compromise on service are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

R

to party, eat and shop, the JWM is a good choice. the pool is very nice, although the rooms are small.

JW Marriott is a good choice, although, as Deepa has stated, it has very small rooms (28 sq. m).

With the Taj Land%26#39;s End, you have the advantage of being in Bandra, which probably has more nightspots, eating and shopping per capita than any other part of Mumbai.

If you%26#39;ve stayed at the Taj Mahal at Colaba the last time around, it does make sense to be located in the suburbs on this trip.

I do not agree with any of nachodude%26#39;s recommendations -- the hotels mentioned are not 5 stars and are not in the league you seek. In fact, the Holiday Inn (not a 5 star even in its heydeys)is no longer a Holiday Inn. It is called Eastern International and gets extremely poor reviews on TA.

The Ramada Plaza Palm Grove- a renowned 5 Star Hotel stands majestically on the shore line of Juhu Beach – the glamour capital of Mumbai.

The Grand Hyatt is a good choice too.. nice restaurants, great food, rocking bar and lounge.. more happening now than the JWM...contemporary rooms nice change than small dingy JWM

Hi,

try Intercontinental at Church Gate Station or almost near to Marine Drive from Church Gate station!

Danny.

Hi - we stayed at intercontinental on airport sahar road. This hotel is excellent and rooms are nottiny. We always caught a rickshaw to marriot when we went clubbing at Enigma. When we travelled there i was 25 and so were my friends and fiancee%26#39;. It is a safe place and it takes about 20 mins to get to marriot in rickshaw... We used the rickshaws coz we loved the boombox they had at the back and really set the mood before we went out partying..

Also heard good stuff about the hyatt which is across the road.

Hope that helps

There is a clutch of 5-star hotels near the international airport...Intercontinental, Hyatt, Sheraton, Leela, Meridien...I would avoid all of these because they are in Andheri East, nothing of interest nearby except the airport. Also to get to these, you have to go through some bad traffic. To get from these hotels into the shopping areas of the western suburbs, you have to cross the highway into the western side, and crossing over from Andheri east to Juhu takes 45 minutes. Bandra even longer.

Then there are three hotels near the domestic airport - Sahara, Orchid and Hyatt. Of these, the Hyatt is the only one I%26#39;d care to recommend, because of how it is located (the domestic airport has permanent traffic jams, because they are constructing a new flyover). The Hyatt is not in the ';jam zone';. The Hyatt rooms are so-so, the corridors in which the rooms are located are bare of any decor, like hospital corridors. But the lobby and restaurant areas are nice. Again, you have the problem of crossing over from the eastern side of the highway to the western.

There%26#39;s one hotel in Powai, the Renaissance, and that is also located in an area which needs you to go through traffic to get there.

So that leaves Taj Lands End and JWM. If you are in the Western suburbs, these two are really the only choices. Mainly because they are on the Western side of the highway, and not the eastern side.
