First Timers to Candolim

Also going in 4 weeks for the third time, try Infernos on the beach road, food fantastic and the one across the road from it (forget its name). If you like steak try the steakhouse on the main road. If you want a breakfast try the Ruffles on the main road.

First Timers to Candolim

As already said Inferno (delicious frozen strawberry daquiris) plus the Stonehouse and the Mermaid were my favourite restaurants. There is a thread on restaurants in Candolim further down this page and there are loads of great restaurants to choose from.

Well lets start with places to eat Floyds Casa Seashell The Seashell Inferno Fishermans Cove the one opposite is Alexanders very good food here Now Jewllry shops we have always used Chandras but have been hearing some very negative stories about him lately we first bought a diamond cross for 拢185 and when home it was valued at 拢1065 but that was 4 years ago have bought various items off him since always been around 3 times the price when home but quality i think is not as good. But you will love Goa

yessterday had my fiancees diamond ring valued cost me around 拢420 from gurus cost me around 400 got the valuation back to replace it in the uk 拢1500 i also had for my 13year old daughter a 18ct tiffany bangle the one all the girls are wearing it is white gold with yellow gold screws around it cost about 拢110 cant get one here for less than 拢350 he is on the high street in candolim wewere there the first couple of weeks in 07 just go ul see the guy tall asian glasses long hair u dont have to buy but he wont show u pictures this guy has it all in a giant safe please at least write down what im saying then pull out the book when you get there and if you remember mention to the guy you read my post the scouse lad with his russian fiancee and daughter its on the same block as the magnum hotel opposite the health clinic. now for your second dilema if you like asian food inpanjim next door to the levi shop there is anauthantic resturant named delhi dabar yes its a ride but worth it for that special occasion its not exspensive but the ambiance is second to none and the doorman is a 6ft4 asian dressed in tradditional garb ,by the way the owls arnt they the team who drew at everton in the quarters of the fa cup in the 80s and in the replay you were booking your tickets for the next round and scored 5 in the first half and spoilt the party and in66 ,so i know you will love ur hols at least write down what ive taken thetime to write sorry about spelling mistakes in late for work good luck steve

My favourite jeweller is Ashokas (next to Magnum Hotel) - if you see a previous post I bought a half carat diarmond solitaire (made to my specification) for 350 pounds and it has been valued at 5 times that when I got back hom. The diamond is top quality (just below flawless). If you do go in, please mention Trip Advisor and they will know that the recommendation came from me. They also do a good range of silver jewellry, leather handbags etc.

The restaurant mentioned in a previous post (Fishermans Cove opposite Alexandras) is now called Marios. Does excellent tandoori. I also like Annapurna (close to Mango Grove). Alexandras is very populor, as is Inferno (just over the road) which is run by her son.

There are so many to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice.

male and su

The only bad meal I had was at Indiana%26#39;s on the Beach Road. I lost a day of the holiday due to %26#39;Goa Gut%26#39; but everywhere else I ate or drank at was fine.

I drink shakes, lassis and lime sodas so maybe they had used local water not mineral, but I didn%26#39;t have a problem anywhere else.

Hi all, just got back from 3 wks in total heated heaven :0))

Ok so candolim as a resort in the North has plenty of options for you to eat - find it hard when people recommend places to eat as unless you eat the same dish evrywhere how do you compare !!!

Anyway heres what we found - lots of agreeing with prev posters - Inferno is great, as was Indiana, Alexanders, Marios - all on main Beach Road. On the corner of the main %26amp; Beach road - had nice oriental meal.

On the Main Road -another vote for me for the Annapurna - next to Mango Grove.

Places to drink - Mango Grove (roland, lovely barman) %26amp; opposite new place this season Bending Bamboo, friendly place to meet people, sit at the bar, we met loads of the ';long stay'; tourists here - (say Hi to Brummies Dave %26amp; Hayley, Pricey %26amp; the twins) - open till last person leaves. Opposite Ruffles there is a shop called ';Ninos Place'; - go in buy your booze %26amp; they ask if its to sit outside - which you do %26amp; its cheaper than any other place. Serioulsy you can just and buy bottle of your tipple %26amp; mixer %26amp; just open it %26amp; drink it outside. We even managed to leave ours there for when we went back - in the fridge of course. Downside is they dont have ice !!!

Have fab time

Have returned on Monday from Candolim for the first time. Dont restrict yourself just to Candolim for food. East meets West in Baga is absoloutely fantastic, as was After 7 (formerly After 8) in Calangute. The best I thought in Candolim was Casa Seashell (lovely lobster), Inferno and the sports bar is good if you%26#39;re into football.

Airport hints this end- Dont take over 100ml liquid bottles in hand luggage, ours had to be thrown away.

Airport hints the other end- Grin and bear it. The airport in Goa when you are making your way home is quite frankly the worst organised shower of **** I have ever witnessed!

We tried the following Reatuarants which were all excellent Carmo, Inferno, Floyds Bar, Gulzar (which is the resturant at the Highland Beach Resort) and Alexandra%26#39;s, also there is one tucked away just off beach road called Coyotes. Carmo was by far the best meals we had.

Don%26#39;t bother taking duty free alcohol in with you as the prices in the resort are much cheaper.

Take a bath plug (I kid you not) as not all hotels provide one, as well as an adaptor if you need to charge anything as the sockets are all round pin.

If this your 1st visit don%26#39;t be put off by the constant taxi, taxi, taxi as you walk down the road, or the beach vendors, after a few days you will get used to it.
