I haven%26#39;t stayed here (although I know the area) but I know a regular on the forum who loves Goa and regularly uses the Radisson as their base.

Bobthbus, where did you stay at Varca?

I think Jock was refering to me !

I have stayed at the hotel several times, prefering the luxury tents set in the sand dunes. The position on beautiful Varca beach is fantastic, it%26#39;s a very quiet area, with 4-5 shacks and miles of white sand, the hotel dos%26#39;nt provide sun-beds directly on the beach, just in the sandy area in the grounds leading to the beach. The hotel pool is one of the best i%26#39;ve seen . The nearest shops and bank are a good 30mins walk. Outside the gates is the Periera restaurant, and more shack style places on the lane leading to the Club Mahindra, Sun and Moon is good . For more choice of entertainment and places to eat you will need to head to Cavelossim or Colva by Taxi.

Since my last visit in march, the hotel has been refurbished, I had a look around at Christmas. The rooms now have large wall mounted flat screen TV%26#39;s, really comfy large beds decked with loads of cushions. The bathrooms are new, bathtubs have been replaced by a walk in '; rainforest shower '; meaning a central overhead fixture the size of a dinner plate. All very pleasing on the eye.

The bar and restaurants now have a new look, the Indian restaurant has changed to pan-asian, the bar area is ultra modern and stylish, but seems to have lost the comfort factor, especially the hard high backed chairs outside. The Dhow beach restaurant has been renamed Finn and again given a chic new look.I was going to give the website so you could have a look, but there%26#39;s no point as it is still showing images of the old decor !.

The tents are still the same, But sadly I won%26#39;t be returning this year, as the prices are now considerably more than I am willing to pay.I suggest you read the TA hotel reports , there are some recent ones on this hotel, It would seem very few guests use the hotel bars and restaurants.

Best wishes lassi

hi lovetravelling,

we stayed at the resort de goa. not sure if it still goes by that name, as it has been renovated since we were there. i think someone mentioned the name changed.

we really liked it there, it was quite dated, and a bit down in the mouth, but it was sort of colonial,it really felt like we were stepping back in time.

Hi

It%26#39;s now called Varca Palms. We met 2 guys who were staying there last week and they thought it was very nice.

Coco

Hi we stayed at Resorte de Goa as well, no its not called that anymore, it is now called Varca Palms Beach Resort. We met John from the Jewel Collection there some years ago now, before it was sold.

Sorry missed coco%26#39;s post! We really enjoyed staying there as well, first went there in 1995.
