What are the pros %26amp; cons about flying to Agra from Delhi, (to visit the Taj Mahal) as opposed to train or car?

The 6 am Shatbadi Express train only takes 2 hours....Kheria airport is 7km out of town. On such a short journey you might as well get the train, if you%26#39;re travelling around you%26#39;ll probably have to take other flights.

there is a airport in Agra, and kingfisher airlines runs daily flights from delhi to agra bookable on http://www.flykingfisher.net. kingfisher is a five star airline.

there are no flights between agra and varanasi and khajuraho anymore, indian airlines used to fly but stoppped. The only airline flying from agra is kingfisher. five star airline with food,and tv on seat. http://www.airlinequality.com a lot of peole write wonderful things about this airline.

Pros cons

flying is more expensive

I believe train stations are more crowded than airports. More chance of getting hassled by beggars.

On a flight you send your luggage seperately, so you dont have to worry about your luggage.

On train stations and on trains you have to keep a very good eye on your luggage.

it also depends on when you want to leave the flight leaves 17 and arrives delhi at 18

the train comparable timewise is shatabdi express leaves at 20:30 arrives 22:30 taking only 2 hrs. first class is INR 745 so a lot cheaper than flying. The down side is that you arrive very late in a crowded train station.

I%26#39;m sorry, I was wrong. The airport at Agra was not operational for private flights, but Kingfisher is flying now. They launched the service recently.

I called them and they gave me the following information:

There are two flights from Delhi to Agra:

1) One of them is direct, 7:55 a.m. departure arrives at 8:55

2) The other route is via Jaipur. Departs Delhi 9:30 am and arrives in Jaipur at 10:10, then leaves Jaipur at 15:30 and arrives Agra 16:30.

The return flight from Agra to Delhi departs 17:00 and arrives in Delhi 18:00

We flew from Agra with a charter operated by a British operator two years ago. We were supposed to fly into Agra, but because of mist were unable to land, and had to divert to Delhi. I would say beware of flying at certain times of year, (our flight was in February) as they have problems with the weather.

We spent one hour circling Agra waiting for the weather to clear. They refused permission to land, even though our flight crew thought it possible, so we diverted. Then we sat on the tarmac in Delhi waiting for clearance to take off back to Agra. By the time it came our crew were not allowed to fly, having exceeded their hours, so we spent another few hours exiting the airport, then 5 hours by bus to Agra. That was one nightmare of a journey, and we finally arrived in Agra at 9pm instead of 6am!

The tour company now flies direct to Delhi and transfers by road. More reliable.
