Kerala or Goa?

Which is a better choice for beauty and relaxation for 3 days, Goa or Kerala. If so, where exactly. I%26#39;m looking for luxury accomodations. What are the houseboats like in Kerala?

Kerala or Goa?

It depends how much you intend to leave the hotel if you are only there for three days. We have stayed at the Leela in Kovalam and would certainly recommend it; Cliff top location, own patrolled section of beach, attentive staff, comfy rooms, good selection of restaurants and bars in the hotel and a 2 minute tuc tuc into Kovalam for more casual restaurants bars etc. We also lunched and had a look round Varkala which also had some pretty good hotels. The luxury hotels in Goa are mostly in the south. We stayed in the Ramada which was good but pretty isolated and didn%26#39;t quite have the impact of the Leela. As for the house boats, I haven%26#39;t done one but if you%26#39;re only there for three days, two will be taken up on the boat, board one day , cruise around, stop overnight then leave next morning. One common thread to the posts is that it gets dark in Kerala by 6.00. The boats tie up for the night and, if you%26#39;re in the middle of nowhere there is nothing to see or do except dodge the mossies and other bugs!! Don%26#39;t know if this helps. I think , for me I%26#39;d probably look towards Kerala, but if there is anything more ,just post

and and lor

There is quite a difference between Goa and Kerela - there are no beach shacks at all in Kerela - Kovalam where we stayed had absolutely loads of excellent restaurants on the little path above the beach, but none of them are %26#39;on%26#39; the beach like the shacks are in Goa - which personally I find very charming. I%26#39;ve not stayed in luxury accom in either Goa or Kerela, so can%26#39;t comment on the standards but I have been on a houseboat overnight. They are lovely to spend a day on - really rustic and peaceful. The food you are served is prepared for you and totally delicious, although you do have to pay for any drinks other than water. The waterways are very quaint and you get a real slice of life as you float by. We took loads of pens and little footballs for the kids, and threw those to them as we passed the villages which was great fun. But I agree with the last poster re: overnight. I really wouldn%26#39;t do this again. Day time is enough. Dusk hits quite early and so do the midges and mosis. You are in the middle of nowhere with no other light than a small lamp which is a total insect magnet - is wasn%26#39;t very romantic at all.

We went on a three day two night trip on the house boat, got off after 1 night, would have swam ashore had i known were we was !!!
