highland beach hotel candolim

hi all

im going to this hotel in a couple of weeks and i have a few quick (she says!) questions;

Padlocks - what size do you recomend for the safty deposit boxes? is it one per room/person? is there a fee? and are they in the room or at reception? would you say they were safe?

rooms - from what i can gather, these are quite spacious, would you recomend a mozzie net? do they supply kettle in the room? what adapters do they take - flat 2 prong or round 2 prong?

building work - has this finished? can anyone give me a contact email address so that i can ask for a room away from this - any suggestions?!

thanks loads

we stayed here at the end of jan 2008 and took a couple of small combination padlocks for the safty deposit boxes but only used the one as they were plenty big enough for our needs.they are located just behind reception and you have to sign in and out when you go in there.there is often a security man sitting outside.in our opinion it seemed very safe we didnt hear of anyone having problems.the rooms are very spacious but not alot of hanging space.there was no kettle in the room and the adapters we used were the two pin round.the building work was nothing to worry about it was across the road from reception and looked like it was virtually finished, just a bit of bamboo type scaffolding and workmen cimbing over it in bare feet doing a bit of masticing or something nothing major at all! we had a great time here with no problems at all! by the way forgot to say the safes were free!

We stayed the first three weeks in January then an enforced further two weeks as better half had heart attack1 (now on the road to recovery)

95% rooms are away from the bldg work at the back which in any event was low key.

We had no mozzie bother, used both deet and local osimos lotion less than a £1 there. We also bought a spray of common or garden insectiside there. There is no where to hang a net.

We had a room in the older part of the complex near reception, small bedroom but ok separate lounge with fridge, mini sofa lounge chair coffee table and TV! (don%26#39;t get excited,) really nice balcony.

All parts of the hotel seemed quiet, four pools not overused

Re our adventure make sure you have good insurance, but also ensure you have a credit card with funds available as it can take up to a week to clear the insurance hurdles we I had to pay out £2000 before my husband was allowed to leave hospital. Just to end he did get very good care which saved his life.

Enjoy

Take basin plug none supplied

was there 26th jan for 2 weeks

take 1 padlock for your safe, as others say sign in and out

we was in room 3043 brand new room 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, we e-mailed the hotel and asked for a newer room

loved waking up and sitting on my balocny at the back watching the old lady wash her clothes.

yes take a kettle there wasn%26#39;t one when we was there
