Dudhsagar Falls

Can any one tell me approx how much I can expect to pay for a taxi from Baga to the falls?

Also read somewhere you have to take 4 wheel drive from taxi, how do we arrange this and again how much can we expect to pay?

Is there a best time of day to go? Also read about spice plantations can be visited on the way or way back, is this worth a visit?

Tempted to do arranged trip but been told taxi is the best way. Just want to be well prepared.

Any info greatly appreciated?

Laura.

Dudhsagar Falls

Hi Laura

I have sent you a message...

Dudhsagar Falls

Thanks for your help.

The falls I enjoyed but I found it very tiring and the jeeps are organised by the local people your taxi driver will no all about how to get you a jeep. I have been but it is not a trip that I would do again. The hilight of the trip is the swim at the top and feeding the momkeys. Please these monkeys do bite they put signs up all over not to feed them but then they practically encourage you to by the food. The signs are to cover there own back if you get bitten then it is your fault.

For anyoelse looking for the answer to your question. Its definately worth booking independantly. We did it in January. Left at 8.30am Taxi cost us about £1500. When you get there Jeeps are available, it cost 1800 rups for the jeep, this is divided into the passengers, there was only 3 of us, but shared with two other people. So 300 rups each. Stopped at the spice plantation on way back, worth a visit cant remember if it cost 200 or 300 rups, and its quite fun, the guides make it very amusing. Lunch is included in the price.

Sorry that was meant to be 1500 rupees, not £s for the taxi from candolim. and 1800 rupees for the Jeep which is ready and waiting for you as you get out of the Taxi

Thanks, info a great help.

Just a general question. When using Taxis for trips, do you pay at the start of the end?

Thinking of doing a trip to the south so would like to know when its best to sort out payment.

all taxis have a government chart as to what they are allowed to charge. Always find out the price before you start then pay him when you get back. The taxis are usually owned by someone else and hire drivers so bear this in mind as our taxi driver was very good and we always made sure he had a tip. When you find a steady driver keep hold of him. Some of them are maniacs.
