Delhi

I am trying to organise a trip to Delhi next July and taking my husband for his first visit! We would like to stay only two days in Delhi and then head to Rhajastan and one of the tiger sanctuarys. We don%26#39;t want to travel with a package company and prefer to fly into Delhi and then organise something from there. Can anyone tell me if there will likely be rain in July and how easy is it to book trips to Rhajastan and possibly Agra? Also, we are trying to keep to a budget. Any help would be grateful.

Delhi

Once in Delhi you can go to any travel agency and ask about any trips you want to do and compare prices and options. It麓s very easy to book, design and arrange trips from here.

You can do Rajasthan hiring a car and driver for around 7 to 8 Rs per Km, you can also do it by train and/or low cost flights.

Use the forum information for planning and advice, many itineraries have been already discussed, especially Rajasthan.

Also some online agencies have been recommended in this forum in case you want to see what they offer, or suggested itineraries.

Do a search in the forum for recommended indian tour agencies.

Agra is a very easy trip from Delhi and you might not need to organise anything, just take a train (3hrs) from Delhi. Of course, you can book it also with an agency, with a guide waiting for you in Agra.

All options are available.

And finally, it will most likely rain in July, but not everywhere you go, some places are more affected but in Rajasthan it might not affect your trip. Well, who knows, it might not rain at all!

Don麓t worry about it too much.

Delhi

Karza,

Delhi to Agra and Bharatphur, Fatapuri Sikri is an easy round trip, probably best done by car. Arrange for a guide as around the Taj is the tout/hawker capital of the world.

Several outfits in Delhi will put a bespoke tour together for you within your budget unless you really are on a shoestring. I can give you a useful contact if you would like to set it up from home rather than waste time when actually there. (and possibly having to take 2nd best!)

You may find the Tigers a little shy if there has been rain as they will not need to drink %26#39;in public%26#39;.The grass will also be taller making actual viewing that much harder.

July is rainy reason, but sometimes because of late arrivals of Monsoon, it may not be rainy. Humidity is high in July. You may organise your India trip on your arrival also, but you need to know the right contact to arrnge that within desired budget. In case you require any assistance, please get back.

Yeah, my first thought was if you%26#39;re going to wait till you get there, do have in mind a recommended tour company before you go, and make sure you do get there and not somewhere with a similar sounding name three doors away.

It%26#39;s probably not a good idea to pitch up in Connaught Place and go to the first place you see/are directed to!

hi karza, well first of all work out a budget and make a list of hotels u wanna be staying in , especally delhi since it is by far one of the most expensive cities, car is the best means of transport to go to rajasthan and yes 7-8 rupees/km seems to be the going rate of an AC car, a must during the humid season you are coming in. again go thru websites like makemytrip.com, yatra.com etc for shortlisting/booking hotels in rajasthan. i think u will be fine

Tell me the expected date of travela and budget ....I helped the Macedonian friend Katica and her mom this way...

I will try to assist you in every travel arrangement.......kindly revert back

Delhi in July ... not a good idea.

If not raining unbearably hot. if raining overflowing sewers, blocked roads general unpleasantness. Much much better in September.

If you are on a budget though, just get there and patiently work out your best moves. I would recommend taking the train to Agra early in the morning, visiting the Taj Mahal and leaving again as soon as possible. Agra is full of Aggro.

Hi. I can recommend someone great. His name is Ramesh Kumar. He arranges the hotels and you will not have anything to worry about if you go with him. His rates are also reasonable. He speaks English too. I just recommended him to several people and they were all very pleased. You can contact him at

Hi Karza

Have a look at my post re reliable and trustworthy driver in Delhi. We have just come back from our first trip to India, and we didn%26#39;t organise anything beforehand. Fortunately, our paths crossed with Dara in Delhi, and we have no hesitation in recommending that you do what we did.

We toured Delhi with him, then Agra, then Rathambore in Rajasthan, to see the tigers, then on to Jaipur, Pushkar and Udaipur ...10 days with a beautiful, gentlemanly driver who knows his stuff, and can tailor your trip to suit any budget. (We had 2 luxury nights in Ranthambore - Khem Villas - highly recommended!) but our other accommodation ranged from 1600R to 400R!!! and it was all good.

You can trust this man to do what you ask him, unlike many operators who push you into what they want you to do. It%26#39;s best to contact him via email and let him know your dates and requirements.

His name is Dara Singh, email:darasinghin@yahoo.com

Good luck - have a great trip!

Hi Karza

So many replies to ur post and not a single one to tell u that all game parks are closed for rainy season starting july 1st till sept 30th.

Secondly July is onset of rains and its very hot humid everywhere. Try doing this tour in june when atleast humidity factor wil be cut out.

Cheers
