Vitamin B and citronella/lemongrass based products

Hi,

I%26#39;m due to travel to Goa again mid March, and would like to know what type of Vitamin B should I take as there are several types to choose from? What concentration is recommended?

Also, does anybody know of any natural remedies or any citronella/lemongrass based products that can be bought to help ward off the mossies?

Planning to use Deet based repellent, burn coils and use plug-ins too.

Hi there

We took Vitamin B1 tablets for the first time last year and they worked for us. Apparently Thiamine is found in B1 and it is an irritant to mossies.

Be aware however, that there was also a warning on the post recommending B1 that prolonged use may upset your mineral balance. You only need take it a few days before arriving in Goa though, and stop when you get back.

Try Avon brand %26#39;Skin so soft%26#39;

Works well.

Also while there, visit an essential oil factory or even a reputable shop for oils.Waterlilly oil , which has a delightful fragrance, is effective as a repellent,is used by locals, and is also used as a base for many commercial repellents.

The above 2 suggestions will have you smelling so nice you%26#39;ll have trouble warding off the opposite gender.Sometimes the same....

I make my own citronella/lemongrass anti mossie lotions up. Other essential oils to keep mossies at bay , lavender %26amp; eucalyptus. If you need anymore info let me know. Hope this helps

you might want to read this before you consider anything that%26#39;s not DEET-based

I took Vitamin B1 for the first time last year and only had 4 bites in 3 weeks, I also use Jungle formula tropical with 50% deet spray, plug ins and burn coils. You can get B1 in Holland %26amp; Barretts they are less than £4 for 100 tablets. I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s just a myth about B1 but I%26#39;m willing to give a go again, it%26#39;s also good for the brain so it can%26#39;t do much harm.

Hi,

We have been visiting Goa for many years now, always take Viamin B1 tablets for 2 weeks before we go and continue whilst out there. Very litle probs with bites, but if we do get bitten use a ';clicker'; device from Boots immediate relief. We have taken plug-ins but because our time-share has air-con no real need, keep your accommodation cool on an evening and do not leave patio door open is my advise

be safe M8 take the B complex 100mg its got the lot in there pluss vitamin C, having said that it doesn`t work for me, try ';GARLIC'; LOL
