20 days in Himanchal pradesh

I had been to Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur,Dungarpur Rajasthan and have stayed in some marvelous Home stays and guest house this winter and now I want to plan my 20 day trip to Himanchal Pradesh in mont of March 08I which to go to Shimla, Manali, Palanpur and Dharamshala are there more places I can go to Can some body tell me some nice Home stays or Nice , Neatand Clean Guest Houses which are not Very costly

I don%26#39;t think your itinerary is right.

Cancel Simla (it is so congested that you%26#39;d cry your heart out..materialism has ripped the town of practically everything, so don%26#39;t waste your time there.)

I suppose you are starting from DELHI.

Take the shatabdi express train to Chandigarh. Have your vehicle booked so that it picks you from there..and takes you to the places i%26#39;ll mention below.

If you are on budget travelling, you%26#39;ll have to get to the bus station %26amp; take the buses to the destination..will not be such a pleasant comfortable option though.

Do buy the tablet named ZOFER MD 4mg (from india) Rs. 100 approx for 10 tablets. it amazing for nausea %26amp; motion-sickness. pop 15min before embarking on the bus journey..unlike other pills you won%26#39;t feel sleepy with this one.

1. Start with Manali (though very commercialised now but you%26#39;re there during the off-season so you%26#39;ll love the place) Try food at Chopsticks (amazing %26amp; unbelievable prices), Monalisa,etc on the main mall road. You can hire a bike for excursions, also visit the pine forest park on one end of the mall road...lovely place with the beas river running on its side. You can stay at BEAS HOTEL-very reasonable at an amazing location, pick most of your hotels from this HPTDC site (hptdc.nic.in)which is the offical govt. if india tourism site. can be trusted totally and though govt. stuff in rest of india is not as good but Himachal State Tourism can be vouched for.

2. Dharmshala/Dalhousie (will be cold) %26amp; plz Plz visit or stay at Mcleodganj (beautiful...mostly over looked and thus it is still prestine).

all these places fall in the same segment in the north of himachal.

3. DON';T MISS -work your way south now %26amp; visit Laul-Spiti ( u%26#39;ll sense something altogether diff. here) it is somewhat a mini-Laddakh. Apple orchards followed by barren hills, monastries...it is out of the world (the mess of commercialism is not here) you%26#39;ll love the people who inhabit this region.

4. Once done you can head home or if you have time...move onto futher south-east to CHAIL (there%26#39;s a lovely hill-PALACE here_ amazing property) , you can stay there %26amp; then head for Sarahan the next day. The road passes thru a lovely flowery village to the Bhim Kali Temple (totally made of wood) also there is an interesting hotel just by the side of it (again by HPTDC), you can stay there for a day %26amp; then return to Chandigarh or the nearest rail station (a place whose name starts with %26#39;K%26#39;, can%26#39;t remember now) %26amp; take a train to delhi.
