India Trains

We leave in 2 weeks for Dehli, the last part of our trip is an overnite train (Mewar Express) from Udaipur%26gt;%26gt;Dehli. An AP article came out today about the woman who delivered a premature baby while using the bathroom on a train. Baby fell out the hole but survived, quite an amazing story.

Can anyone give me some good advice about overnite train travel besides not drinking anything and using the toilets early morning (tour tip). I%26#39;d like to get a better handle on what to expect as I guess it%26#39;s just a hole in the floor? OR is that only in certain trains?

India Trains

Hi,

The modern trains have both Indian style toilets and a WC at both ends of the compartment.

The AC III Toilets are comparatively clean and the AC II tier ones are cleaner. By Indian standards, that is.

Take some of antiseptic hand gel with you, the stuff that doesnt need water. Or hand wipes.

If you can, take packed sandwiches or dinner with you. The food you get on the trains is usually quite spicy and if you do not like it, there are limited options.
