Any recommendations for houseboat and which route???

So looking for your help again!!

We are going to hire a houseboat for a night and firstly we are wondering what route would be the best (preferrably not too packed with other boats etc)

Allepey - Kollam

Allepey - Kottayam

Allepey Kumarakom

Allepey round-trip

Also anyone have any recommendations for the actual boat and cost - just apx??

We%26#39;re just back from there. Have to say that our houseboat cruise was probably the best of our Kerala trip.

Allepey round trip is perfect and easy if you plan a 1 night cruise.

And Kumarakom-Allepey is perfect if you can book a 2 nights cruise. That%26#39;s what we%26#39;ve done.

It is really worse making 2 nights if you have time, so that you won%26#39;t see any other houseboat around.

People usually book only for one night, but they have something like 700 houseboats in Kerala!

For every companies, check-in time is 12:00 noon, and check-out is 09:00 AM.

One night means only half day cruise, which is really not enough.

I would recommend Cosy Tours (www.cosytours.com). The boat was perfect, staff really nice, delicious food, and their prices are cheaper than many other ones.

We pay 10 000 Rs for 2 days, 2 people, all included.

We did Alleppey - Kumarakom overnight last month. Absolutely lovely and the perfect end to our holiday. We had a Deluxe AC boat with Lakelands Cruises, - www.lakelandsrenjini.com - very good, spotlessly clean, great staff. Worked out about US$100 per person (booked through a travel agent, so you might get it cheaper), but we didn%26#39;t feel the need for AC.

Let me suggest about the tour iternary( destination) you have given

Alleppey Kollam would be the best , provided you have 3 or more days to spend

For one night - Allepey - Alleppey round or Alleppey - Kumarakom round would be ideal

The check-in tme is 12 Noon and check-out time is 9 - 9:30 AM

Though every operator say that the boat is at your disposal for 22 Hours , teh efective srise hours wil be maximum 6 hours , if they doesnt stop over for lunch for too long.

The best part of the houseboat trip is the crise along teh anrrow canals , lined with coconu and paddy fields on either side . so make use of that and try to reach the boat by 12 Noon , coz even if you arive late you wont be given an extra hour cruise the next day ... so as a traveller , reach the boat in time and also avoid prolonged lunch session when they halt ...

The will anchor by the lake side or canal side by sunset and the cruise starts again next day morning

The price for a singe room ( on double occpancy) with all meals included can be apporx INR 5000 for Airconditoned boat , and approx Rs 4000 for Non A/C boats .

The top operators rate may vary by another 1500 Rs more
