5* hotel accommodation

How easy is it to get cheap 5* accommodation?

Is it better to book in advance or can u get cheaper walk-in, trying to banter and bargain? Have had mixed reviews, but don%26#39;t want to get to Goa and find it difficult or to pay over the odds?

5* hotel accommodation

but do you want to be dragging a suitcase around with you, on the 1st day of your holiday trying to get a good price for accommodation.

And if you have no luck then your back onto the next place.

i personally would rather have accommodation sorted out before i go.

5* hotel accommodation

hi

there isnt actually that many 5 star places in goa (well north goa anyway) i can only think of the lemon tree %26amp; the taj %26amp; theres another opposite the taj but the name escapes me so there isnt a huge lot to choose from. personally ive found that it is usually cheaper to book a package as booking the charter flight without the hotel is not a lot cheaper unless you pick one up at the very last minute %26amp; i mean last minute.

with smaller cheaper places you can probably have a better chance of %26#39;bartering%26#39; for a price but a lot of the 5 star places are members of big hotel comapnies/chains so im not sure if they would consider arguing over price with you - but you never know.

the only thing i would say is if you are going over xmas/new year its very risky to not book accomodation before you go as everywhere in goa is extremely busy %26amp; you may find instead of a 5 star hotel you end up camped on the beach!!

If it%26#39;s any help we recently got a really good deal staying at the Intercontinental - have booked for this December - should mention though that since booking I have been looking at this forum and realise it may be because the Intercontinental is quite remote. Doesn%26#39;t really bother us because we will still go out and about but something to bear in mind. Looked at the Leela and Taj ecotica and they came in much more expensive for basically the same thing.

Leela and Taj Exotica not at all '; same thing';. You will be exploited at the Intercontinental due to its remote nature ( taxis in particular ) plus it will be rather dull without easy access to more vibrant life ( relatively speaking for S Goa). There is a good reason that Intercontinental is cheaper so if you decide to go there do so with your eyes open.

Yes - my eyes are WIDE OPEN!

wont be much of a holiday if you are going to barter for your room. Are you going to clean rooms or do the washing up to pay for your room?

It might be better to haggle at the smaller ones that way you could haggle a good price and be off enjoying your holiday rather than bartering for your room and be stuck doing work.

No chance of getting cheap 5 star accomodation especially in south goa, many rich indias ready to pay for it, we have visited the leela palace in mobor, and mid-week very quiet but weekend full of rich indians willing to pay mega bucks for extra and party wonderfull place to stay but mide-week lost its soul try a 4 star ie we stayed at the Goa Renaissance a number of times, try them for a discount but the 5 star hotels are geared towards rich indians.

I%26#39;ve stayed at all three Taj properties - Fort Aguada, Taj Holiday Village and Taj Exotica. I thought Aguada had the best property, and Exotica the best boutique feel.

The most recent visit, we stayed at Exotica. We were not very concerned about location, we spent a lot of time just relaxing, and then we did a couple of full day trips by car.

I guess it depends on 1.what you call ';cheap'; and 2. what you call ';5 star';. There are only really 2 5 star places in South Goa, the Leela and the Taj Exotica ( I wouldn`t even catogorise Intercontinental due to location - unless you specifically want that seclusion ). Therefore, don`t expect it to be ';cheap'; , particularly if you go on spec as the rate will undoubtably be worse than package rates. You don`t state when you are going... if after Easter holiday the rates will certainly drop but local shacks may not be open as the monsoon season approaches and charter flights cease.
