First time to Goa

Hi everyone, me (Helen) %26amp; my partner (Shona)will be staying at the Heritage Village Club 8th - 22nd April %26amp; were wondering what type of clothes to take as we don`t want to offend any of the locals by wearing something they would consider inappropriate, so can any one give us some advice please? ie is it ok to wear shorts %26amp; vest tops? also bikinis ?

Any information or advice of any sort would be much appreciated.Oh we have been told not to wear white because of red dust is this even around the complex ?

Shorts and vest tops will be fine around the complex and resort, but if you go elsewhere, you may want to cover up a bit more. Bikinis are fine around the pool and on the beach - just don%26#39;t take bits of them off!

Hi shorts vest tops are fine .I usually wear them over bikini if walking about.

Taken white clothes worn them at night Washed them

myself had no trouble with this so called red dust

Enjoy

It will be sooo hot in April you will be fine with shorts and vest tops. Bikinis are acceptable on the beaches ,in the north, and tourists do go topless. Fact. However im not saying i do. Because i dont, not in Asia, Europe or anywhere. Im also not getting into what is offensive to the locals, im am purely stating my observations. I was shocked to see 2 men nude bathing on Mandrem Beach this January, i believe this is common practice on Arumbol beach.

Thanks for the feedback folks.

One other question how much money would you advise we take?, only we are going AI for the two weeks %26amp; I have no idea of the prices for excursions, taxies, ect in goa. I have been told that you can get some lovely clothes made is this very expensive? Sorry to ask so maney questions but I`m a total newbie for this area of travel.

depends on how much you plan to do and buy, we took £700 between 2 and came back with about £40, we did day trips ate out for lunch and diner and brought stuff home

I would have thought £600 was plenty, particularly if you%26#39;re staying AI and don%26#39;t intend to eat out (although you may find when you get there it%26#39;s just tooooo tempting to try something new). I haven%26#39;t had clothes made for a while, but a suit made from some sort of fine woollen material about six years ago cost about £60, and shirts for the other half about £10.
