candolim/calengute - atm?!

i reckon this is a silly question but.....

are there any ATMs to withdraw money??? (just incase i dont take enough!)

also do places take visa debit cards?!

There are a few ATM%26#39;s around Candolim and Calangute. There%26#39;s one next to US Pizza/Newtons Supermarket. They tend to be in rooms with a guard outside each one.

Unless you have a Nationwide flex account then you%26#39;ll be charged cash advance charges and foreign currency charges, so only use the machines if really neccesary.

Most restaurants will only accept cash, although if it%26#39;s in a hotel complex then they might take a credit card, but again you%26#39;ll get stung for foreign transaction charges.

Proper shops will pretty much take credit cards, but not your average market seller of course!

thats handy to know - i really didnt expect there to be any! luckily i have a nationwide account almost purely for this reason!

i feel safer getting money as i go!

If you use your nationwide account you will get the best deal, as the withdrawals are in rupees at buisiness rates, we just did 4 weeks there and only used atm%26#39;s they are of the newest type and dont

'; swallow '; your card, it remains in view as the machine only reads the chip.

On our return home we were surprised how good the rates were, while the rate for cash was 77 rs to the £1 we got 81.2 from the atm.
