Karol Bagh area

I am staying with my daughter for a couple of days in Delhi before moving on. We like the idea of being near a market and not paying very much, but don%26#39;t want to stay in Paharganj. What is Karol Bagh like? Is it easy to shop there for costume jewelry, Indian purses, other stuff? Is it fairly safe for two women?

What is a hotel you would recommend? I have heard of Singh Sons. Do you know anything about it?

Thanks!

Karol Bagh area

Hi there! The Karol Bagh area is awesome! its one of the best shopping markets i%26#39;ve found thus far!

Its totally easy shopping at your own pace and you have the choice of upscale stores or street shopping and you can find everything from costume jewelry to purses to anything! the market just goes on and on and on..

it is also fairly safe.

i would reccommend hotel singh international, or anmol deluxe!!

shop till you drop!!

Karol Bagh area

karol bagh is a crowded area with lots of street vendors as well as upscale shops. Yes, you will find costume jewellry as well as indian purses here to suit all budget.

Thanks for the info. If anyone knows more about shopping here, let me know! In case I can%26#39;t stay there, I would love to know which streets are good or the name of the bazaar.

If you stay near the Connaught Place (Central Delhi) area you can walk to Janpath with lots of street side shops selling Traditional Handicrafts and all sort of knick knacks very popular are amogst tourists.

Connaught Place itself is a large marketplace with all kinds of indian and western branded shops.

Ajmal Khan Road is the main street in Karol Bagh. There you%26#39;ll find a lot of clothes shops, selling both Western clothes and saris/SK, shawls, sportswear, shoes etc. There are also toy shops, sweet and nut shops, stalls selling luggage, t-shirts, bangles, umbrellas, you name it. But it%26#39;s not really tourist fare- much of it will be contemporary Indian taste. The trad-style, elaborate saris and kurta etc will be in wedding shops and come with a hefty price tag.

I don%26#39;t know Singh Sons, but Singh Sahib is a good hotel in this area. It%26#39;s slightly out of the main shopping area, near the car market. Good Palace is much closer to the action, not quite as nice as Singh Sahib though.

Dilli Haat is another place for tourist stuff.
