We ended up hiring a car-with-driver from indiarentalcars.com and

it was good. They were the best priced company, from about

five that I compared. They specified in advance exactly what they

would provide (e.g., the driver would have a mobile phone, the

car would have seat belts) and they delivered as promised.

We were visiting some friends who live in Delhi, who called the

company, got the driver%26#39;s license number and plate number

and all the other details of out car, just for security purposes and

to make sure we wouldn%26#39;t be considered easy targets.

Also, even if the driver is good, there are unsafe roads and

';pirates'; sometimes attack cars after dark on rural highways.

For whatever reason, and for whatever level of risk you are

comfortable with, you might choose to leave your driver%26#39;s

information and/or the car%26#39;s plate number with somebody before

you set out.

I am also curious about Indo Vacations...I have heard that there are a lot of travel companies in India that will give you a great price, but then the level of service isn%26#39;t what you would hope. Has anyone used Indo vacations? Are they good? Are there other travel agents that you recommend?

I have travelled to other South Asian countries and this forum has been my best friend, so i thought it is about time i returned the favours by helping folks who plan to visit India and esp. Delhi.
