First time in Goa - my ideal holiday...

Hi

We are planning to go to Goa at the end of this year and I%26#39;ve got an ideal holiday in my mind which I wanted to check was possible!

I would like to spend 1 week in the north and 1 week in the south. During this time, I would love to visit a couple of markets, beaches and go on as many elephant trips / excursions as possible. I think we will probably go with FirstChoice so wonder whether it will be possible to stay in two places?

My only reservation is how we would travel from each place, is there only one airport in Goa? For example, could we fly into Goa, travel to the South, then the north and then back to the airport in a reasonable time frame?

I know these are lots of questions, but I%26#39;m so excited about going to Goa that I want to get the most out of our trip!

Thanks in advance - any help is muchly appreciated!

No problem doing a 2 centre stay. Not sure if package tours do 2 centre, but easy for anyone to DIY their own flight and hotels.

The airport is pretty central, an hour or so taxi ride gets you to North or South Goa. To travel North from Baga/Candolim down to Cavelossim in the South a max of 2.5hrs.

Trips easily to arrange locally, you would have no problem.

Book your flight, arrange hotels North and South, the rest is easy.

One of the easiest world destinations to travel around and organise.

I%26#39;ve seen a 2 centre holiday in one holiday brochure recently and I think it might even have been First Choice though I%26#39;m not sure. The only problem was there were only a few choices of hotel combination so you might not be able to stay at the hotels you particularly want.

Just checked in the First Choice Tropical brochure for May 08 to April 09 and they do offer 2 centre holidays in north and south Goa with transfers included. However they only offer selected hotels so if they don%26#39;t feature the hotels/resorts you want you can always do as Smoking mentioned and DIY.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Its a bit daunting doing it DIY but we%26#39;re not going until November so I may look into it!

Cheers

Laura

Travelling between North and South is easy and Goa is a fairly small state, although we always stay in the South we do travel North on day trips....and a number of the sites are in Central Goa...happy planning and have a great trip.....and this forum is great for info with a great bunch of regular and freindly posters :-))

p.s. To keep you in the mood here%26#39;s a couple of links to photo%26#39;s of our last couple of trips

Out of interest did a 10 mins web search on a DIY.

Assuming you flew from Gatwick flight only 8/9 November 2008. You could do a 2 centre stay, say a week in Candolim and a week in Cavelossim for £1250/£1300 for 2 persons. Allows you to pick hotels in the £20/£25 per night range, wherever you fancy.

Add on £40 taxis for airport and back, plus a full run North to South.

Bit more time you could probably shave it some more.

Cheapest package I saw in Calangute was £1400 for 2.

If you book a trip to the North, after a couple of days, especially with the number of excursions you mention, you will have a Taxi driver friend, they will gladly take you to the South %26amp; will be certain to have a ';cousin'; who has a hotel/apt/house. Failing that you can book through either Johns Boat trips or Daytrippers a hut on the beach. You will have your perfect holiday I am sure.
