North Goa - where to stay?

Hi,

My friend and I are going north of Goa. We want a non turisty place to stay - but no so quit that there is no place to go and eat etc. Would love a place on/near the beach with a pool and nice comfort. Is it Morjim, Mandrem or Vagator? And is it easy to go to Tarkarli and Malvan from these places -heard the beaches and the food is great there, but I cant find any places to stay...

We stayed in Candolim area. Guest House CAndolim is having cheap air-conditioned rooms. And is very cool area.
