going south

we are in candolim at easter, but going to the south for a couple of nights. thinking about palolem - any views and any nice cheaply priced beach huts (some of the prices are extortionate for goa - blackpools cheaper).

going south

With it being towards the end of the season I would be tempted to find somewhere when you get there and haggle for a good price. Agonda is also only 15 minutes by tuk tuk away.

Anwad.

Blackpool may be cheaper but you wouldn%26#39;t have enjoyed being on the beach today in the gale force winds even if we do have our own version of the River Princess!!! Our ship is The Riverdance but unlike the one at Candolim which is still upright, ours is now on its side. Will it still be around as long as the River Princess?? Anyhow, I would much rather be at Palolem whatever the price.

If we don%26#39;t send off for visas tomorrow Stephquiq might be coming to visit Blackpool anyway. Which do you think is best goanjock and why (teacher in me coming out now) - Palolem or Agonda?

Lol where%26#39;s spell check when I need it :-)

It really depends what you are looking for, Palolem is arguably the nicest beach in Goa, it literally is (or was) straight out of a bounty advert with palm tree%26#39;s and a natural crescent shape. When we first visited there was only one shack on the beach and a handful (4 or 5) restaurants set just off the beach. I remember sitting late in the afternoon with a cold beer just off the beach, a guy was swinging from a hammock, the men from the village had cast a net from the shore were now pulling it in, the woman and children from the village then came down with baskets and collected the fish, it was a fabulous scene, ';real life'; and I thought ';this is the life';. Now though the beach is relatively busy and lined with huts and shacks, many still clearly love it but now I prefer Agonda as although the beach isn%26#39;t as nice as Palolem (though it is still lovely) it is far quieter than Palolem (though in time no doubt that will change too :-( ). There are some photo%26#39;s of Agonda on flickr.com/photos/…

p.s. Palolem is the beach Matt Damon runs along in the Bourne series.....hope that helps a bit.

photos look beautiful goanjock. do you use beach huts or know of any decent ones goanjock or do you still think just to wander and find one - only problem is that mad mother in law is in tow so can%26#39;t go touring round too much or there will be major earache.

We stay at http://www.madhuhuts.com/

A good website for Palolem is http://www.palolem.com/

i have picked up that they are nice goanjock and i think we will have a mosey on down there. do you think we will have to ring and book (going candolim on 15th)or just chance it.

I would phone Shekar before you go just so you know what you are doing and if he%26#39;s full I am sure he will be able to recomend somewhere else.
