quiet place to chill in north India

I’m looking for an inexpensive (under 1500R, 60$ or £30) friendly hotel or lodge somewhere in North India to chill out for a week or so. It must be quiet and peaceful with a garden or roof garden and the room must be clean with an ensuite shower/WC. There must be OK food either in the hotel or nearby. Simple is fine! I don’t want anything posh! I don’t want a spiritual retreat place or go to Shimla (too cold!) Any suggestions, please.

There are some small guest houses around 800-1000rs in Rajpur, just on the outskirts of Dehra Dun in Uttarakhand. Rajpur is a small community of Tibetans and Indians and has a market area but also is just at the foot of the foothills of the Himalayas. The views are nice up to the mountains yet there is still a town to wander in. Dehra Dun with more modern restaurants is a 20 minute auto rickshaw ride away, and Mussoorie is an hour bus or taxi ride if you want to be in the mountains and not just looking at them.

i%26#39;m going to this retreat next week. there%26#39;s still one more spot.

after researching other packages like this, the pricing on the Sacred Earth retreat to India is a good value.
