Bondla animal sanctury
I went there some years ago and found it very distressing. Elephants tied up, mongooses in small cages, all showing signs of distress. I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s changed now - perhaps someone%26#39;s been there more recently than me. That was probably about 10 years ago.

Thanks londongoa girl
ill give that one a miss, hopefully its improved these days but wont go in case.
thanks lesley
I went there about 5 years ago and everything LondonGoa-girl said was much the same. They said alot of their animals had been rescued but I very much doubt it. I also hope that things have changed over the last few years. Anyone been to visit there more recently?
There is a letter in todays Herald complaining about the conditions at the sanctuary. So sadly it seems nothing has changed.
we where there in jan this year
theres a lot of rebuilding work being done there at the moment the aim of the place is to rehabilitate the animals that are back into their own enviroment within 5 yrs, the elephants get chained up when they are not taking people and school children on their backs for rides.there is a few more bison in this year young ones just born, only a couple sloth bears, plent porkupines ,a new king cobra that was caught just outside panjim, what you have to remember this place is run off donations and the 30 rups it cost to go in there are lovely gardens where the school kids all go for a picnic , we spent about 3 hrs there in jan
it cost us for 3 adult 1 camara 1 camcorder 110 rups our friends it cost them 130 rups 4 adults 1 camara
we think its a good day out
takes couple hrs to get there so you could do the spice plantation or waterfall on same day then youve done 2 trips in 1
hope this helps
