Private/small group tours

After reading a lot of posts I am no closer to a decision on selecting a guide/tour company for 2 couples to visit India in Jan 2009.

Has anyone used Kensington tours--they claim to offer lots of flexibility and competitive rates.

We would like to avoid the large bus trip type tour however the really high end luxury tours are more than I care to spend.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Book flights to India yourself, and then use a private Indian company to do your India leg. It is usually much cheaper.

I agree. Which part of India are you visiting? Just put it into Google- something like '; Rajasthan car tour'; or ';Goa car and driver hire';. You will be overWHELMED. WHELMED I say!

There are loads of recommended companies on here, have a dig around.
